Coco Chanel commissioned Ernest Beaux to make six perfumes. They were labeled No. 1, No. 2, etc. through No. 6. It was bottle No.5 that was Coco's pick and later became the famous formula thanks to Andy Warhol.?When Warhol made nine silk screens of the perfume, he affirmed Chanel No. 5's position as a commercial icon.
